We are really pleased to announce that we were recently chosen as one of six London venues shortlisted for a prestigious new “Independent Cultural Venue of the Year” award as part of the Dot London Small Business Awards. We are competing against some amazing venues including Arts Depot in Finchley, Arebyte in Hackney and St John’s Smith Square, in Westminster.
Having been shortlisted by an accomplished panel of judges, led by Sarah Willingham from Dragon’s Den. Other judges include Nick Miller, the Chief Executive of Meantime Brewing, John Vincent, co-founder of Leon restaurants and Sonal Shah, a Trustee at the London Community Foundation.
We are delighted to have been selected by such an inspirational and diverse panel. To know that the work we are doing has got their attention, via our award submission is incredibly rewarding in itself.
To go on to win the award, we need to gain as many votes as possible and this is where you come in. If you have ever thought you wanted to help MY but couldn’t afford to this is your chance. Voting is quick, easy and free. If you really want us to win, then please also share the voting links on social media and spread the word far and wide.
If we win, the £1,000 cash prize will be invested in further improvements to our studio theatre, art gallery and live music room. Winning the award, almost 12 months to the day since announcing the prospect of bankruptcy will be a strong demonstration of our resilience and the strength of our recovery. Most importantly, it will get us attention we wouldn’t otherwise have which is good for us, good for our concessions and good for Croydon.
Thanks as ever for your ongoing support. We <3 you Croydon!
